From Amazon.com, review by Ross A. Dangle: In Carrie's Footprints is an inspirational story of African American courage and perseverance during segregation. Jack White takes us on a wonderfully researched and written journey with Carroll County Maryland's Dorsey family. The family's resilience and strength in the face of discrimination and economic hardship is truly uplifting. A must-read for Maryland history buffs and especially anyone living in Eldersburg-Sykesville and the Baltimore region. Mr. White's masterful research and compelling writing style makes this book a quick read for anyone. The historical context he provides around the events of the time provide a wonderful perspective. Mr. White's unique insight and witty prose also provide a substantial educational value for younger readers, who have no experience of racial segregation and have little understanding of just how difficult things were for African Americans only a few short decades ago. This event will take place at Carroll Lutheran Village. A Celebrating America program.
